My name is Adria Willis, I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and my private practice is located in Helena, MT. My therapeutic approach is to be actively engaged on the client's level to support a person-centered approach, create a safe space, and cultivate an opportunity for meaningful client driven change. I partner with my clients to help them find strength, hope, and resiliency to overcome challenges. I believe life's challenges are an opportunity to identify new goals and overcome barriers.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults with a variety of mental health issues. Approaches I use to treatment are evidenced-based. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more specifically I'm certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I'm working towards my TEAM CBT certification as well. I utilize therapeutic play, therapeutic art expression, relationship/attachment model, and the psychodynamic model. I have experience in treating persons who are affected by anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, attachment/relational problems, grief and loss, peer issues, gender identify, sexual orientation.
I received by bachelor's degree in Sociology from Montana State University in 2009. I received my master's in social work from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in community organizing and planning and a military sub-concentration in 2013. Over the last 15 years I have worked in the mental health field in various capacities. Early in my career I worked in preschool settings as well as therapeutic youth group homes enhancing my knowledge of early childhood development, adolescent development, and teenage development. It was in these settings; I developed a strong desire to deepen my knowledge and strengthen my skill set and I decided to pursue my master's degree in social work. Since completing my master's degree, I have gained experience in hospital social work, school based mental health care, and started my own mental health psychotherapy private practice. These past experiences as well as my current/ongoing experiences have increased my knowledge and deepened my understand of our community's mental health needs. For example, I learned how to navigate complex systems, provide thorough case management services, provide evidenced-based clinical mental health care, navigate family systems, understand and assess for mental health diagnoses, and be an advocate for many people. These opportunities have allowed me to connect in a meaningful way with people, make personal growth, and learn about what makes us unique.
