A Little About Me
My name is Adria Willis and I am a licensed clinical social worker. My practice is based in Helena, MT. I received by bachelor's degree in Sociology from Montana State University. I received my master's in social work from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in community organizing and planning and a military sub-concentration. Over the last 10 years I have worked in the mental health field in various capacities. Early in my career I worked in the preschool setting as well as youth group homes. It was after this, I decided to pursue my master's in social work to enhance my knowledge and comprehension of this vast field. Since earning my master's I have been fortunate to gain experience in hospital social work and school based mental health care. These experiences have increased my knowledge of the mental health field in more ways than I could have ever imagined. For example, I learned how to navigate complex systems, provide thorough case management services, provide evidenced-based clinical mental health care, navigate family systems, understand and assess for mental health diagnoses, and be an advocate for many people. These opportunities have allowed me to connect in a meaningful way with people, make personal growth, and learn about what makes us unique.
My therapeutic style is to be active, creative and engaging. During sessions, I offer various modalities to help my clients engage in the therapeutic process based on their readiness. I often utilize art expression, play therapy techniques, and talk therapy. It is important to me to be mindful of the social work code of ethics and I strive to bring this to my sessions, after all this is the core of our profession. You will find that I am easy to engage, authentic and personable.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. I use a client centered approach to treatment and work to align the therapeutic process around the client's individual needs and identified goals. Approaches I use to treatment can be eclectic but remain evidenced-based. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Relational Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I have experience in treating persons who are affected by anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, attachment/relational problems, grief and loss, peer issues, gender identify, sexual orientation, and many more.
